SAFETY TIPS TO AVOID ACCIDENTS
If you work in construction, landscaping, carpentry, or any other occupation that involves any one or more of the above tools, there’s a very good chance that you’ve witnessed co-workers or subcontractors get injured while using power tools. In fact, you may have a few stories of your own about the time your finger or hand sustained a bad cut, or when a cut was so deep, you needed to go to the hospital so you could get stiches. Clearly, you want to avoid workplace accidents at all costs. So, when handling dangerous tools, please follow these precautions:
- Whenever using a compound miter saw or a portable circular saw, don’t forget to use a clamp.
- If you’re tired, you shouldn’t be handling dangerous tools because fatigue causes a lot of accidents.
- You cannot protect glasses to protect your eyes. Since wood and metal chips can still get to your eyes, it’s important to wear goggles.
- If you’re using a nail gun, don’t disable the safety. You could accidentally set the tool off and it can “nail you.”
- If you’re using a table saw, don’t remove the safety guard.
- When using a nail gun, beware of the ricochet, which could get you in the face, mouth, or another place on your body.
